There are a lot of excuses for why people don’t have an email marketing strategy, and I have heard them all.

I don’t know what to say, I don’t have time, I’ve never needed to do this before.

1: “I Don’t Know What To Say”

When it comes to email, you want to make sure you are delivering value with each message or newsletter you send.

There isn’t a handbook you need to follow where the first email should contain this and the 17th email should contain that. It is far less complicated than all of that.

Basically, you simply need to send the kind of content that your ideal client is going to be interested in reading.

Think about the questions you get asked frequently and answer them, discuss topical issues, or address the problems they have and show them why they don’t have to be problems any more. These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much value you can send to the people on your email list.

With email marketing, it is less about the specific content you send and more about being consistent. Consistently staying in touch with information that is interesting and informative is the key to converting readers into paying customers.


2: “I Don’t Have Time”

I’ll admit that it can take a lot of time to effectively implement an email marketing strategy. But the question I ask is, can you really afford to not invest the time?

Email is the number one way to encourage referrals and repeat business. It is also the most cost effective method of targeted advertising you can use. You are guaranteed to reach everybody on your list with your unsanctioned message.
