When going on holiday, you need to consider your pet. These are your options…

Leave Them At Home

To leave your pet at home, you need to truly trust someone to either pet-sit at your place, or look in on your pet regularly. The benefit is your pet gets to stay in a familiar environment, but the drawback is that they can get lonely.

It is vital that the person you choose (whether they be a professional of a neighbour) will take their pet sitting duties seriously. An automated food and water dispenser can ensure your pet gets basic needs when you can’t be there.

Take Them Somewhere

Having your pet stay with a friend or family member is great. If that is not an option then you will need to use a kennel or cattery. The benefit is that your pet will be well cared for in a pet friendly envrioment. The drawback is that it can be pricey.

Do your research as not all kennels and catteries are created equal. If your pet is holidaying with a friend, then check that your pet will get on with any other animals in the house as well as the children.

Take Them With You

This option can be viable if you are going to a pet friendly destination. However, if you are moving around a lot, going overseas, or staying in high class accommodation, then it probably won’t work.

If you do take your pet, pack the things they will need so that you aren’t stuck without their food or a place for them to sleep.
