Summer is exciting for so many reasons, the chance to get outside more, the warmer weather and the amazing healthy food that comes into season. Here are our favourites…

1: Watermelon

So refreshing on a hot day! This summer fruit helps to hydrate you. It also contains lycopene which promotes a healthy heart. Double bonus!

2: Fish

Getting out on the water to catch your own meals is great fun. And you get an amazing healthy protein to eat for dinner. Grilled fish contains plenty of omega-3 fats which keep your heart healthy and your brain fed.

3: Iced Tea

It seems funny to drink tea cold in winter, but it is perfect in summer. Green and black tea are full of antioxidants that fight disease.

4: Salad

Warm summer BBQ nights call for a salad on the side. This easy no-cook meal is a great way to get your daily fix of vegetables. You can jazz your salads up with protein-filled eggs, lean meats and healthy fats like avocado and nuts.

5: Berries

Fresh strawberries right off the plant, juicy blueberries and divine raspberries are all high in fibre, but low in sugar. It’s a sweet treat without the guilt. They are also full of vitamins and antioxidants!
